Consumable Fees

Government-funded childcare hours cover staffing and core provision but do not include the cost of additional consumable resources used daily within the nursery. To support the high-quality experiences we offer, we charge a small weekly consumable fee.

These fees help cover the cost of items such as:

  • Snacks and food preparation

  • Craft and creative materials

  • Sensory and messy play resources

  • Cooking and baking ingredients

  • Gardening and outdoor play materials

  • General day-to-day resources used by the children

The weekly consumable fees are:

  • Snowdrops (2-year-old provision): £5.00 per week

  • Buttercups (3–4-year-old provision): £2.50 per week

These contributions allow us to continue providing a rich, varied and engaging learning environment for all children while keeping funded hours accessible for families.

Funded Childcare

All parents of children aged three to four can access 15 hours of funded childcare, the term after they turn 3 years old. It doesn't matter how much you earn or how many hours you work. There is no application process for this. Parents and Carers should seek a place directly with their chosen provider.

Some 2-year-olds are eligible based on low-income benefits or specific needs.

Additional 15 hours for working parents of 2 and 4 year olds.

Most working parents or carers of children aged two to four in England are currently entitled to an additional 15 hours funded childcare a week meaning that they can access a total of 30 hours

The childcare provider must be approved – so informal providers such as grandparents don’t count – and the funding ends when your child starts reception class.

Eligibility depends on whether you’re working, your income, your child’s age and circumstances and your immigration status.

Full details about eligibility requirements can be found at: 30 hours free childcare - GOV.UK.

Your hours can be used per week for 38 weeks of the year (during school term time).

  • 2-Year-Olds (Working Parents): 15 hours available from the term after the child turns 2.
  • 2-Year-Olds (Support): Families receiving specific benefits (e.g., Income Support, Universal Credit) may access 15 hours.
  • 3 & 4-Year-Olds: 15 hours universal entitlement, with 30 hours available for eligible working families.
  • Usage: Funded hours apply for 38 weeks per year (term time).
  • Application: Apply for codes at Childcare Choices by 31st December for January 2026, 31st March for April 2026, or 31st August for September 2026.
  • Assistance: Contact Sefton’s Family Information Service at 0345 140 0845 or email fis@sefton.gov.uk.
